The group PHYNANO gathers researchers exploring the condensed matter physics at very small scale over a broad spectrum, from the most fundamental research to applications.

In practice, the research is performed by several independant teams, constantly interacting with the other members of PHYNANO.

Our research is focused on the following topics:

Quantum Physics and Transport (QPT)

We explore the quantum mechanical phenomena in nanometer-scale electrical circuits.
Quantum transport in novel systems (QTNS)
Julien Chaste, Ulf Gennser & Dominique Mailly

We explore quantum transport in novel and promising physical systems.
Epitaxial growth of 2DEGs: III-V heterostructures (2DEG)
Bernard Etienne, Ulf Gennser, Antonella Cavanna

We develop 2D electron gases for a wide range of studies, using molecular beam epitaxy for Ga(Al)As heterostructures.
Nano and micro cryoelectronic (NanoFET)
Yong Jin

We develop and study the physics of ultra-sensitive cryoelectronic devices.
Low temperature tunnel microscopy and spectroscopy (LT-STM)
Jean-Christophe Girard, Guillemin Rodary, Christophe David

We probe the electronic structure of matter at the atomic scale by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) at low temperature and under ultra-high vacuum.
