Presentation
The activity of the PEQ group aims at the investigation, the understanding
and the exploitation of optical phenomena that occur when the
electromagnetic field is confined in a semiconductor in dimensions of the
order of the optical wavelength. This activity relies on the quantum
mechanical or nonlinear effects that take place under strong confinement to
design, realize, and study photonic devices with specific characteristics,
unattainable by other means.
The four actions of the PEQ group correspond to the investigation of the
behavior of light in a semiconductor in four different types of conditions:
